BEST Book Club Report...EVER!!

This week Leandra had to do a book club report presentation for her class. Her teacher divides the class up into groups and each "book group" is assigned to read a book and discuss different chapters each week. Leandra's group had to read a book called "Fever of 1793". It is apparently a story about when Yellow Fever was at it's peak... YIKES!

Anyway, Leandra has been showing a lot of talent lately in writing lyrics. So, when she was trying to figure out how to present her report, an old "Survivor" song kept running through her head. In a nutshell, she wrote new lyrics, and asked her Dad to record them to a karaoke version we downloaded from Amazon. The result was... well,.... awesome! :) The lyrics just make me giggle, as do the vocals Lee recorded (he really wanted to portray the emotion that must have been there during this epidemic!). We typed a copy of the lyrics for her to hand out to each student to have when she played her CD. It's so awesome, it just makes me giggle!!

I've included the lyrics below. Enjoy!

Spread of the Fever

Polly is dead
Mattie is, very sad
Her mother gets, the fever
Polly had...

Then, her and Grandpa, are forced
To move away.
On their trip, they get... betrayed.

Rising up, off of the ground
That we were just thrown to.
And think about what to do

So now we look, for things to use
To lengthen our chances.
To live without, anyone there
And we will try to prevent...

It's the spread of the fever
And it's killing us all.
Even though we're trying to survive it.
And the last known survivor was Mattie's Mom
And we all know it's hard to live
Through the fever...

OH MY HECK (yes I did just say "heck")!!! That was totally AWESOME!!!
Seriously, how cool is that? Andy, you have some mad skills to be able summarize all that information in such a creative way. But then not only did you write sweet lyrics, but then to be able to have your dad record it is awesome. Seriously just made my day.
